Metro Motor Helps Mobilize Earthquake Relief for Venezuela

In the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela last week, communities around the world have come together to support those facing unimaginable loss. Today, Metro Motor was honored to play a small part in that effort by providing transportation for donated relief supplies collected by members and friends of the Venezuelan diaspora throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

During a weekend-long drive organized by Arepa Zone (a local restaurant chain offering Venezuelan cuisine), volunteers gathered essential items like nonperishable food, water, hygiene products, baby supplies, medical necessities, and other critical materials for families affected by the disaster. Metro Motor's team assisted by transporting multiple pallets of these donated supplies to a regional warehouse, where they will be consolidated before continuing their journey to Miami. From there, the shipment will be forwarded to Venezuela and distributed to communities in Caracas and La Guaira where urgent aid is needed most.

Metro Motor's response was led by Alejandro Narvaez, who supports auto repair operations. "This disaster hit very close to home for me – my mother, uncles, and grandparents live in Venezuela. Thankfully they are alright, but many, many others were far less lucky. When I saw a way for us to help, I didn't hesitate."

Alejandro reached out to Metro Motor's auto supply division, which delivers auto parts and products to repair shops in the Mid-Atlantic. "Every day, we manage the logistics and delivery of auto supplies across our region, but this is the first time I've been part of relief efforts," said Tony Quinn, warehouse manager at Metro Motor's distribution hub in Alexandria, Virginia. "It's a great feeling knowing that our team is making a difference."

While our business is built around keeping vehicles moving, we also believe in using our trucks, equipment, and people to help move communities forward whenever we can. Today's effort was a reminder that logistics can save lives just as much as generosity can. By helping connect local donations with international relief efforts, we hope these supplies will provide comfort and support to families as they begin the difficult process of recovery.

We recognize, however, that we are only one small part of a much larger effort to get these supplies to Venezuela, so to help ensure a smooth delivery, Metro Motor was proud to donate $1,000 to help cover costs for the next leg of the journey.

Want to get involved?

The response from the Venezuelan community across the D.C. region has been inspiring. Neighbors, businesses, churches, and volunteers came together with a shared purpose – to help people they may never meet but who desperately need assistance. The earthquakes have left thousands of people displaced and created an urgent need for food, medical care, clean water, and emergency supplies. Relief organizations from around the world have mobilized to support recovery efforts, but the need remains significant.
